Transportation Matters
If you’re traveling to Cancun from the US, you will typically fly into Cancun International Airport (CUN). From there, you can take a taxi or shuttle service to your destination. It may be more affordable for your family to use public transportation instead of taxis or shuttles. There are two major bus stations in the city and they are located near each other. The bus station in Zone 4 serves destinations outside of Cancun, while the one in Zone 5 serves destinations inside the city. To make things easier, keep in mind that zones correspond with the letters ZA-ZO on street signs around town. If you want to go to Playa del Carmen or Tulum, both touristy areas south of Cancun, catch a bus at Zone 5. For Cozumel Island or Chichen Itza Ruins (both north of Cancun), head to Zone 4.
